Based on research conducted in Brazil and Europe over the past ten years, First Body is an invitation to think with the whole body. This workshop offers participants procedures for generating creative experiences across different artistic languages (theatre, performance, dance, literature, and visual arts). Practical exercises are developed in which artists are invited to create from their body and mind in relation to time and space. “Everything is material for creation”: it is enough to direct the focus of each inquiry to discover the poetic resources that emerge from the experiences offered by this creative journey that is First Body.

Movement is the embodied expression of the relationship between body and mind, and through the exploration of the moving body, we direct our attention to the present moment, activating creative materials in time and space that result from individual and collective experiences lived throughout the process. From experienced artists to participants from other fields, we value the exchange of ideas and possibilities, where singularity is fundamental to collective creation. Therefore, there is no model to repeat or copy; we seek to understand human movement as an autonomous creative possibility, where each participant discovers their own possibilities and barriers within this somatic framework, in order to overcome their limits and find new paths for creation.
